IT Service Continuity is a specific form of business continuity planning. It is the process of assessing and managing risks associated with information technology (IT) departments. It involves the evaluation of values, threats, risks, vulnerabilities and development of countermeasures to ensure continuation in the event of a disaster.
This terminology is mainly used in Corporate America. In 2008 the British Standards Institution launched a specific standard connected and supporting the Business Continuity Standard BS 25999 titled BS25777 specifically to align ICT Service Continuity with Business Continuity. The two standards can be implemented separately.
